Jalapeno Q&A

In light of the recent salmonella outbreak associated with FRESH jalapeno, we want to assure you that Bueno Foods' jalapeno is cooked and processed and is not raw, therefore there is no associated risk. Nor does our frozen green chile contain any jalapeno.

In a press release issued by FDA on July 25, 2008, FDA declared:

Here are some questions and answers you may have regarding this recent outbreak.

What peppers are affected? 

FDA continues to advise consumers to avoid raw jalapeño and serrano peppers if they have been grown, harvested or packed in Mexico.

Is green chile suspected?

No. Only raw jalapeno and serrano chile peppers are under investigation.

Are cooked or processed peppers including jalapeno peppers under suspicion?

No. Cooking or processing kills salmonella. Bueno Foods' jalapeno is cooked to 160 degrees.
